We are seeking a hands-on Manager Bank First Line Risk and Compliance to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to lead the first-line advisory and assurance team, ensuring compliance, risk management and incident handling. The role involves collaborating with second and third-line teams, implementing quality assurance programs and driving continuous improvement to meet regulatory and operational goals. Support, advocate for and guide the implementation of localised risk management and compliance policies, processes and requirements within the context of the Group Risk Management Framework. Undertake and support execution of assurance/risk-related checks of controls and treatments within the business. Host and co-ordinate monthly risk and compliance forums with the applicable leadership teams, capturing decisions taken in these governance forums and ensuring assigned actions are completed. Prepare reporting on operational compliance, incidents and other matters and identify areas for continuous improvement of the business control environment by using data to generate insights. Provide insights on trends and opportunities to the leadership team to improve member experience, mitigate risk and enhance compliance. Engage with, advocate to and support first-line management in applying effective risk practice and generating appropriate risk behaviours by establishing effective working relationships with managers and senior leaders at all levels. About you You have strong risk and compliance experience, ideally within the financial services sector. Your expertise in change management, adaptability and outstanding stakeholder management, combined with clear communication skills, will enable you to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. You bring hands-on experience in first-line risk management and have a proven ability to mentor and coach teams in building their risk capabilities. Knowledge of key compliance policies and regulations, including Anti Money Laundering, Counter Terrorism Financing, Corporations Act, National Consumer Credit Protection Act, Privacy Act, and APRA Prudential Standards. Ability to analyse and interpret complex information, identify trends and make informed decisions in fast-paced and demanding environments. Proven ability to engage and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders effectively, including strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated success in managing and working within multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance and operational objectives are met.
