Position Number IDS101 – Manager Civil & Environmental Services – Ongoing – Full Time Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) is Australia’s largest rural water corporation, with a vision to deliver “water for a thriving Northern Victoria”. Through its responsibility for storing, managing and delivering water across most of northern Victoria, GMW provides services to about 25,000 customers in its operating region via a $5 billion asset base including 10,000km of delivery & drainage network and 23 water storages. About the Role As Manager of Civil and Environmental Services at GMW, you’ll make a direct impact on the successful delivery of water to customers & communities. You will lead a team of approximately 35 staff and manage a $7M operating budget to ensure the efficient, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance of our irrigation and drainage infrastructure. You will oversee a team across multiple locations (Tatura, Kerang, Rochester, Shepparton, and Cobram), coordinating all maintenance activities from routine repairs to emergency responses, such as flood events. Reporting to the General Manager Infrastructure Delivery Services, your key responsibilities include: Leading 4 direct reports, including Maintenance and Environmental Coordinators Managing maintenance via Maximo, including scoping, planning, and reporting Overseeing repairs, desilting, and weed control across the irrigation network Ensuring high standards of service delivery and operational efficiency This role offers the chance to make a significant impact on GMW’s infrastructure while driving team performance and supporting sustainable environmental practices. Genuine personal alignment to GMW’s values (leading by example in their implementation) & a passion to help deliver “water for a thriving Northern Victoria” Experience in leading large maintenance / operational work teams to deliver high-quality & best-for-business customer outcomes, with safety, efficiency & pride Experience in the delivery of civil / environmental maintenance services for regional utilities or water/irrigation businesses or equivalent Experience in the commercially savvy management of Principal Contractors and Sub Contractors Experience in driving highly effective works scheduling & delivery practices, including through scheduling systems and software (ie Maximo) Experience in the development and presentation of Management reports that get to the heart of current performance & risks and uncover continuous improvement opportunities Opportunity to make a positive impact with what you do, for people, services and assets.
