Your role at St John of God Health Care We are looking for an experienced media relations professional to join our team and help us tell the story of our Mission, our people, and our services. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Communications & Public Relations, this role leads our national media and social media strategy, focusing on storytelling and protecting our reputation. You will be responsible for building relationships with key media outlets, managing media inquiries, and creating targeted media strategies to achieve positive outcomes that align with St John of God Health Care's Mission. The Position Drive proactive opportunities to generate positive media coverage for St John of God Health Care services across Australia (WA, Victoria, NSW) and New Zealand. Build strong media relationships, pitch stories, manage media inquiries, and design targeted media relations strategies to achieve positive outcomes. Provide media advice to Group and hospital executives and senior leaders. Support hospitals and services in securing media coverage for key initiatives such as new services and redevelopments. Create and execute content strategies for traditional and social media platforms. Lead thought leadership initiatives, coach spokespeople, and oversee media training. Guide communication efforts for major projects, including mergers and acquisitions. Mentor and provide leadership to the Communications & PR Officer. Participate in and manage the weekend on-call roster. You are a seasoned communications professional with a passion for storytelling and the ability to produce clear and compelling information simply and consistently. You hold a tertiary qualification in a related field and have five years of experience in media relations, ideally in fast-paced environments. You will have a strong ability to navigate large and complex organisations with excellent problem-solving abilities. You excel at simplifying complex topics and crafting engaging media pitches. You have a proven track record of managing media around critical issues and securing coverage. The Requirements You will have 5+ years experience in media relations, preferably within fast-paced and large complex organisations. To excel in this role, you will have outstanding writing skills and ability to produce clear and compelling information simply and consistently. A good understanding to identify key corporate drivers is essential along with a strong ability for strategic planning and development ability is also required along with a relevant tertiary qualification, or industry experience in a comparable role.
