The Manager, Forensic Accounting Section is accountable to the Operations Inspector, within the Financial & Cybercrime Investigation Branch (FCIB), Crime Service for the management of financial aspects of police investigations and providing strategic financial investigative input into investigations relating to serious criminal activity (including organised crime and proceeds of crime recovery). Forensic Accounting Section sits within FCIB. FCIB provides a highly specialised and professional investigation service for complex and organised financial and cybercrimes that are beyond the resource capabilities and expertise of other areas of SAPOL. The Branch consists of six sections – Serious and Organised Financial Crime Investigation Section, Cybercrime Investigation Section, Intelligence Section, Digital Evidence Section, Confiscation Section and Forensic Accounting Section. The Manager, Forensic Accounting Section provides leadership, oversees identification, development and provision of training programs to staff within the section to improve their competency and skills relevant to forensic accounting, criminology and computing. The Manager, Forensic Accounting Section also provides guidance on policy aspects of financial investigations and ensures that staff members achieve the outcomes specified. The incumbent is responsible for managing resources and ensures Information Technology software and systems are regularly reviewed and updated. The Manager, Forensic Accounting Section is also responsible for overseeing the operational management of a team of professionals that provide a specialist accounting service for the purpose of providing evidence for criminal and civil proceedings conducted by or on behalf of SAPOL. The role entails exercising independent professional accounting judgment and involves preparing and presenting evidence in court to support both criminal charges and civil proceedings. In some cases, the Forensic Accountant will be declared an expert witness in which case special Rules of the Court apply. Special Conditions The incumbent must hold a current Australian work eligibility status and will be subject to a criminal history check. The incumbent will be required to apply for a National Security Clearance. The incumbent may be assigned to other duties at this remuneration level or equivalent. Some out of hours work and intra/interstate travel may be required. The incumbent is required to participate in SAPOL’s iEngage program. Requirements Essential : Degree level qualification in Accountancy, Finance, Economics, Commerce or other relevant field majoring in accounting. Membership of a professional accounting body with a status of at least Certified Practicing Accountant, Chartered Accountant or equivalent. Desirable : Degree level qualification in Law and Postgraduate qualification in Forensic Accounting or equivalent. Salary ASO8 - $121,107 - $125,679 per annum.
