Award/Classification: Tasmanian State Service Award - General Stream Band 8 $140,703.00 to $150,200.00 per annum Employment type: Permanent, flexible, Permanent, full-time Region: South Location: Hobart The purpose of the role is to manage the investigative functions of the Office of the Racing Integrity Commissioner in delivering the Commissioner’s functions under the Racing Regulation and Integrity Act 2024. The position ensures effective collaboration with relevant stakeholders to integrate diverse policies and rules, providing authoritative advice to staff, management, and external stakeholders. About the role Tas RIC is a newly created office for the purposes of enforcing the Racing Regulation and Integrity Act 2024 from 1 February 2025. This role will help strengthen the integrity of racing and animal welfare in Tasmania. This critical role will lead investigations under the Racing Regulation and Integrity Act 2024. You will provide specialist advice and cultivate partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Manage and coordinate media, public relations, and agreements with third parties including volunteer groups, community associations, donors, and commercial partners. About us The Racing Integrity Commission’s Office is tasked with: Making integrity and animal welfare standards in racing and monitoring the regulation and administration of racing. Gathering information, holding investigations, conducting inquiries, and issuing recommendations to participants in the racing industry to assure racing integrity and animal welfare meet contemporary community expectations. Promoting compliance, facilitating engagement, and cooperation in relation to racing integrity and animal welfare. Providing advice and an annual report to the Minister for Racing that will be tabled in Parliament. Hours per fortnight 73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation). The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this role is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion, or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted: Crimes involving dishonesty including illegal betting or gambling Serious traffic offences Serious drug offences Crimes of violence Diploma of Government (Investigations), equivalent qualifications, or demonstrated practical experience in investigations at an equivalent level.
