Employment Type: Ongoing Work Location: Sydney, Flexible & Hybrid working options availableClassification / Grade / Band: Grade 11/12Remuneration: Base salary from $145,378 - $168,130 plus superannuation and leave loadingApplications Close: 24 March 2025 About the Opportunity As the Manager, Investigations and Compliance, you will lead GWIC's compliance functions, overseeing a team of Inspectors to ensure the industry meets greyhound welfare and integrity requirements. Appointed by the Chief Commissioner under section 68 of the Greyhound Racing Act 2017, you will be instrumental in investigating and evaluating issues, recommending actions, and ensuring the fair conduct of greyhound racing in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and codes of practice. What We're Looking For: We're seeking individuals with strong communication skills, capable of engaging with a diverse population. The ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to balance compliance and educational responsibilities effectively. You will play a pivotal role in leading a team to investigate and address breaches of regulatory rules, conducting thorough interviews, and compiling detailed briefs of evidence. You will also: Monitor the greyhound racing industry in NSW to ensure compliance with animal welfare and regulatory requirements. Serve as the key liaison between GWIC and NSW Police and other investigative agencies regarding ongoing investigations and inquiries. Lead industry-wide change to ensure proactive leadership, swift response to a changing environment, and effective outcomes for Government, industry, and the community. Ensure professional integrity and independence in delivering inspection and registration functions, meeting legislative accountabilities to required standards. Build industry commitment to good practices in animal welfare and integrity, showcasing compliance and safety outcomes. Foster strong relationships with the greyhound racing industry to influence sustained improvements in animal welfare and regulatory performance. Fulfill statutory duties of the Chief Inspector as prescribed in the Greyhound Racing Act 2017. Key Requirements: In-depth knowledge of rules, regulations, and operational guidelines. Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant industry experience as a Senior Compliance Officer in a regulatory environment. No previous industry participation (see eligibility criteria below). Conflict of interest - you may be precluded from consideration for this position if any private interest or relationship constitutes a conflict of interest under the Commission's Conflict of Interest Policy, guideline and procedures that cannot be reasonably managed. This role may involve travel to Bathurst and across NSW on an ad hoc basis. The successful candidate will be required to undergo background checks and provide confirmation of tertiary academic qualifications before commencement. Incumbents will need to meet requirements to be appointed as an Inspector under the Greyhound Racing Act 2017.
