Job Description

The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) is seeking a Manager to join the Sciences Learning Area. The Manager, Learning Areas Unit (Science) leads a team of Principal Education Officers to assist and support teachers in their implementation of Queensland senior Science syllabuses.What you will do As the Manager for the Science Learning Area, you will: provide strategic advice to Principal Education Officers on senior phase curriculum; teaching, learning and assessment; and professional development lead and manage initiatives and projects including the development and revision of senior syllabuses, the development of resources to support syllabus implementation and the development of assessment resources to support both school-devised and external assessment provide leadership to Principal Education Officers to align with strategic priorities, to enhance partnerships with schools and client satisfaction with senior curriculum and assessment systems, senior curriculum resources and professional development liaise with the other units within the Curriculum Services Division on the development of resources, professional development and training to support schools with implementation of senior curriculum and assessment systems guide the Principal Education Officers' leadership of operational teams and oversee quality assurance processes for the development and maintenance of syllabuses and supporting resources coordinate and prepare correspondence, reports, briefing papers and policy advice in relation to curriculum and assessment development and implementation provide expert advice on emerging issues in the senior phase of schooling provide expert advice to senior leaders in relation to the development, interpretation and implementation of the strategic priorities, policies and procedures involving assessment and certification.
