We seek like-minded colleagues to join our team who are committed to these values and culture.About The Role Pivotal Senior Officer Position (5 year contract) Attractive Remuneration Package + Vehicle Family-friendly workplace with flexible and hybrid arrangements available Lead and manage Council’s Strategic and Statutory Planning Services & Building and Planning Compliance team Join a community-focused and values-driven Council As Manager Planning & Building Services, you will hold a crucial position within the South Gippsland Shire Council's Senior Leadership Team.This role will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to ensure Statutory and Strategic Planning & Building and Planning Compliance are aligned with the Council’s vision, along with driving change, leading service delivery, and creating a collaborative approach to our long-term plan.You will lead and mentor the Planning and Building Services department, leveraging your strong leadership skills to inspire, motivate, and develop your team. You will also provide strategic planning advice to the Council, ensuring a balanced approach between community expectations and legislative requirements.By fostering a high-performing team, you will ensure the department is well-positioned to deliver exceptional planning and building services while meeting the increasing demands and expectations of the community.About You As an experienced leader with extensive expertise in both Strategic and Statutory Planning, backed by a tertiary qualification in town planning, you bring a diverse skill set to the role. You possess strong influencing abilities, empathy, and a commitment to achieving outcomes in a principled and values-driven manner, ensuring results are delivered efficiently.Your proven senior management experience in leading multidisciplinary teams will cultivate a dynamic, customer-focused culture, aligned with our organisation's priorities of community engagement and staff development to best serve the community.With a solid understanding of financial management and comprehensive knowledge of rural, coastal, urban, industrial, and commercial development, as well as environmental considerations, you will strategically plan to support the organisation's and community’s economic sustainability in the short, medium, and long term.
