Manager, State Team Coordinator – SafeWork, Psychological Programs and Return to Work Grade: Manager/State CoordinatorSalary range: Receive an attractive salary package along with packaged motor vehicle options. As the Manager of the SafeWork NSW Psychosocial Programs and Return to Work team, you will play a key leadership role in shaping the state’s regulatory approach on a dynamic and complex work, health and safety harm, and have the opportunity to improve psychological health and return to work outcomes for NSW workers. The Psychosocial Programs and Return to Work team (~13 staff) is one of 4 teams within the newly formed Regulatory Capability and Engagement Directorate (60+ staff), alongside other specialist harm portfolios and strategic (internal and external) regulatory capability projects in the Division. About SafeWork NSW SafeWork NSW’s focus is to prevent and reduce work related fatalities, serious injuries and illnesses by securing compliance with work health and safety and associated legislation. We do this by undertaking a mix of responsive and proactive programs of work focused on high risk harms across all industries, aligned to our strategic plan and regulatory priorities. This intensive program is delivered by our Registered Training Organisation and combines mandatory components of induction, class training, online learning, completion of set assessments and tasks, and extensive on-the-job field training with regular travel throughout NSW. About the role As the Manager of the Psychosocial Programs and Return to Work team, your responsibilities include: Delivering on the SafeWork NSW Psychological Health and Safety Strategy 2024-2026. Leading a team of 8+ specialist inspectors and capacity building across the SafeWork NSW inspectorate on addressing psychosocial WHS risks and return to work projects. Undertaking workplace inspections (travel across NSW may be required), respond to customer requests, complete preliminary incident investigations, deliver presentations and work with major industry stakeholders to improve safety standards. Leading effective working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including government authorities and policymakers across jurisdictions. Building industry capability through collaborative stakeholder engagement, evidence and risk-based harm prevention initiatives including leading inspectorate-wide compliance projects. What we are looking for A team player who is passionate about workplace health and safety, inclusion and diversity. Experience building, developing and leading teams in a regulatory environment. Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills to engage and influence key stakeholders to improve regulatory outcomes. High degree of integrity, excellent judgement and ability to scan, analyse and identify needs and gaps. Ability to interpret and apply multiple pieces of complex legislation and analyse comprehensive and technical reports. Highly advanced project management skills with a focus on continuous improvement and measurable outcomes. Experience working on workplace psychosocial-related issues is highly desirable. Demonstrated experience leading teams on sensitive or complex issues using an evidence-based and trauma-informed approach is highly desirable. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, transferable skills and/or industry experience are desirable but not essential. Essential requirements Willingness and ability to undertake work-related travel across NSW and occasionally inter-state, work from and stay in remote locations and work outside of usual business hours. Hold a current NSW 'C' class driver licence with a satisfactory safe driving record and a requirement to maintain the safe driving record throughout employment. Undertake and achieve a satisfactory criminal record check. Undertake and achieve a satisfactory medical assessment capacity regarding physical and psychological impacts of the inherent duties of the role. Appointment and ongoing assignment may be subject to restrictions and satisfactory participation in mandatory pre-employment and ongoing probity screening in accordance with relevant legislation and/or related policies.
