A merit list or pool may be used for up to 18 months.This merit list or pool may be used to fill other vacancies anywhere in Australia.The Public Affairs and Marketing Team The Public Affairs and Marketing Team is responsible for positively influencing the National Capital Authority’s (NCA) operating environment and reputation through external communications, engagement, and marketing. The team has responsibility for strategic communications including reputation and issues management, website and digital channels, media relations, social media and content, corporate communications, corporate publications, brand, stakeholder engagement, crisis communications, and event and place marketing. This role will work closely with the Director of Public Affairs and Marketing to implement the NCA’s public affairs program of work and to support its goals in public engagement and advocacy. The key duties of the position include: Liaise, consult, negotiate with and support business areas to plan, execute and achieve public affairs and business objectives. Develop, implement and evaluate innovative public affairs strategies, and material including creative materials, campaigns, and website and social media content. Provide strategic media advice and develop materials for proactive and reactive media engagement and manage the NCA’s media monitoring contract. Manage the NCA’s online presence, including the NCA website and social media channels. Manage the NCA’s brand and visual identity, including the engagement of an external graphic design resource. Develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships with internal and external stakeholders in industry, government, community and other relevant areas. Lead the development and implementation of public affairs research projects, and the development of informative and relevant high-level reports to senior management and the NCA Board. Assist the Director Public Affairs and Marketing to lead, manage and develop team members, including providing coaching and mentoring to achieve high levels of performance. Manage and monitor the implementation of public affairs projects to targeted timeframes and budget and instigate timely and effective troubleshooting as required. Contribute to the NCA’s broader management processes, including business and operational planning. Stay up to date with best practice communications, engagement methods and technology, and provide recommendations and solutions informed by this knowledge. Be a practice member of the Public Affairs and Marketing Team, sharing ownership for improving the team’s ways of working. Business-as-usual and ad-hoc communication activities, as required. Notes This role requires a skilled public affairs generalist, with strong strategy skills, excellent written communication capabilities and demonstrated experience developing public affairs campaigns. Other key skills required for this role include: Tertiary qualifications in public affairs, communications or public participation, or extensive industry experience. Ability to gain and maintain a security classification of Baseline is mandatory. Current knowledge of the media landscape. Demonstrated experience in stakeholder mapping and audience segmentation. Strong project management skills including the ability to manage competing deadlines and expectations to ensure quality and timely delivery of outputs. Skills in gathering and using data from a range of sources to inform and evaluate work, develop business cases / rationales and contribute to ongoing reporting requirements. A high level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail is required. Preferred Experience Significant previous experience in a public affairs role, including people management, is highly valued. IAP2 certification highly valued.
