About the Role FTI Consulting’s Risk & Operations function is seeking a Risk & Compliance Manager to support and assist FTI Consulting’s operations in Australia and to work alongside the Australian Risk & Operations team to assist in the delivery of risk and compliance initiatives in the region. This position will report to the Managing Director, Risk & Operations, Australia. The Risk & Operations team has national responsibility for several key functions across the practice, including risk and compliance support in Australia for business functions and general corporate matters. This role will contribute to the delivery of a robust and efficient platform to support the continued growth of the Australian practice and enhance operational effectiveness. What You’ll Do Reporting to the Managing Director, Risk & Operations, the role will have a key focus to drive a proactive and effective risk management and compliance capability in Australia, including the following: Coach, mentor, support and guide a small team Manage team workflows and key risk and compliance activities, including the maintenance and oversight of various compliance obligations Respond to queries from the practice in relation to corporate and risk and compliance matters, including review of RFPs and client contracts, and liaise with the APAC Legal team as necessary Oversee compliance management in relation to licensed or registrable activities (AFSL and other) Oversee updates to relevant corporate risk policies and guidance for the Australian practice in accordance with applicable laws and regulations Horizon scanning for new legislative and regulatory developments and drive the implementation of these, including supporting the design and rollout of new systems, policies and training programs Communicate, report and present in various forums in relation to risk and compliance matters including oversight of the training calendar for key topics and delivery of various training Work closely with colleagues in the practice including to run and resolve urgent or sensitive risk and compliance matters as they arise, including investigations, audits, or regulatory requests Support key operational / leadership reporting, meetings and forums Lead or contribute to ad hoc projects to drive process improvements and enhance efficiencies. How You’ll Grow The role will provide the ability to operate and influence across a range of different business functions and liaise with senior management within a national setting, with exposure to staff at all levels, within a proactive and collaborative Risk & Operations team. What You Will Need to Succeed Ability to weigh risks against operational needs to develop reasoned recommendations, including risk mitigation strategies and provide sound compliance advice Self starter who is very proactive, with a desire to contribute meaningfully to the organisation, who is able to work both independently and with minimal direction, and as part of a team Ability to handle unanticipated situations effectively and work well under pressure with tight deadlines Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and successfully deliver multiple complex projects and business as usual activities, in a fast-paced environment Excellent judgement and the knowledge and ability to involve and keep key stakeholders and/or senior management appropriately informed Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong work ethic, integrity and high level of professionalism Willingness to travel as necessary Experience & Qualifications 10+ years risk and compliance experience within a broad professional services environment including several years of experience in a similar industry, preferably in an international firm Degree in Law, Commerce, Accounting, Business or risk and compliance certifications preferred but not essential (law firm or legal background would be highly beneficial) Knowledge and awareness of relevant laws and regulations, including risk and compliance best practices and frameworks Our Benefits Apart from the well-structured career path and excellent team environment, our employees enjoy a variety of perks and benefits.
