As one of the world's leading grains research organisations, the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) plays an integral role in driving research outcomes and innovations that directly benefit Australia's growers and the grains industry. GRDC's purpose is to invest in research, development and extension (RD&E) to create enduring profitability for Australian grain growers. We are seeking a Manager Strategy and Portfolio based in Canberra or Adelaide. Role Assist the Head of Strategy, Insights & Planning and broader business to develop, manage and monitor execution of the GRDC five-year RD&E plan and corporate strategy. Develop recommendations to guide RD&E investment decisions aligned to portfolio balance principles and organisational objectives. Communicate and champion strategy internally Develop portfolio reports and recommendations to ensure investment aligned to the five-year RD&E plan objectives and principles, including targeted returns, to ensure portfolio balance and manage risk Measure and monitor portfolio and corporate performance, developing key performance indicators, capturing required data and developing reports for internal and external stakeholders Monitor the trends and drivers impacting GRDC’s investment in grains RD&E, regularly testing key assumptions to adjust the investment profile as appropriate. Candidate Profile: 5+ years of experience working in strategy, management consulting, marketing, business analysis, or related fields. Bachelor’s degree in agricultural science, business, marketing or related field, with experience in R&D product development preferred. Ability to think and act strategically Ability to collect and synthesize available information, knowledge and expertise to develop recommendations that cut through to different audiences. Demonstrated understanding of commercial principles and RD&E portfolio management, including portfolio balance and risk/reward trade-offs. Highly developed presentation, interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to influence, motivate and develop others Be comfortable driving strategic projects with blended strategy and business teams, working to tight deadlines.
