About the role The WA Operations Division ensures the secure operation of the SWIS and the efficient and compliant operation of the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) and Gas Services Information (GSI). The WA Prudentials & Settlements team is directly responsible for: WEM Weekly Settlement Processing Metering Data Management Prudential monitoring processes (managing financial risk in the market) Market Participant support GSI (GBB WA) Settlement In this role, you will be responsible for managing the WA Prudentials & Settlements team through day-to-day activities, supporting WEM Reforms and other initiatives, and supporting the broader operation of the WEM. What you will be doing As a member of the WA Operations leadership team, the role is responsible for effective operation of the WEM, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You will be responsible for: Managing the WA Prudentials & Settlements team’s day-to-day functions. Provide Subject Matter Expert support to WEM Reforms and other improvement initiatives. Providing strategic leadership and direction within the team, including support and coaching of team members to maximise their skills and potential within the organisation. Driving continuous improvement and efficient ways of working within the team. Act as business owner for bespoke settlements and metering applications. Collaborate with other WA Operations teams in the reliable and safe operation of the WEM and SWIS. Develop and manage relationships with internal and external partners and provide high quality stakeholder support. Assist the Group Manager, WA Operations in driving change and promoting cross-team and cross-departmental collaboration. Managing the team budget and long-term planning. What you will bring to the role Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Economics, Engineering or Finance. Preferably experience working in the WEM in a commercial or regulatory environment. Demonstrated experience leading teams. In-depth knowledge of energy markets, especially the WEM and GSI, particularly with respect to settlement. Solid understanding of the principles, practices, and issues associated with the operation and design of electricity and gas markets within Australia, as well as the political and regulatory framework in which they operate. Strong numerical, analytical, problem solving and interpretive skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical and commercial issues, with and without precedents. Very strong ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally, with people at all levels, both internal and external. Demonstrated experience managing risk and compliance obligations and dealing with incident response in an operational environment.
