The Digital Division enables the delivery of AEMO’s obligations through technology and improves outcomes for both internal and external stakeholders. Digital provides services to internal AEMO business units, employees, contractors, subsidiaries such as AEMO Services, external government bodies and market participants. The Energy Markets & Corporate Digital Systems team will provide ongoing maintenance and operational support to deliver software development services for AEMO’s critical energy and gas market systems, as well as corporate and enterprise business applications. What you will be doing As a member of the EM&CDS Leadership Team, the role is responsible for 24/7/365 operation within agreed SLAs of the Digital application and systems that support key AEMO functions listed below. The role is responsible for ensuring all system maintenance tasks are performed. You will also be responsible for: Driving the creation and establishment of efficient ‘ways of working’ to ensure the is cost effective, efficient, and scalable delivery. Leveraging external partners where necessary. Ensuring solutions meet business requirements, with a focus on continuous improvement and financial optimisation. Assist the GM Energy Market and Corporate Digital Systems to drive change, promote cross-departmental activities. Champion corporate rollouts/programs and provide input into organisational wide strategic planning forums. Provision of strategic advice and direction to Management on AEMO’s Technology functions covering operational matters, strategies and efficiencies and collaborate with other Group Managers to build a strong and effective leadership team. Provide strategic leadership and direction to the team, and in particular support and coaching of team leaders and staff to maximise their skills and potential within the organisation. Own and manage the applications environment, framework, tools, and processes for the systems managed by the teams in this department. Strong and collaborative internal and external relationships Successful transition of application change into production supporting desired business outcomes. Strategic management of technology risk including application cyber security standards Operational excellence of mission critical systems managed by this team. Strategic thought leadership in collaboration with Digital Leadership Team colleagues of new technology solutions to meet the emerging needs of AEMO. Ownership and management of a Digital cost centre with associated budgetary management responsibilities. Ownership of providing estimates for timelines, effort, and cost of new project initiatives that impact systems managed by this team. What you will bring to the role Tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications in an appropriate technology discipline or equivalent industry experience. Significant experience in a technology team leadership capacity managing multiple, large, cross-functional operational teams or projects and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders. Experience in the energy industry or similarly highly regulated industry experience relevant to fit for purpose information technology and data management. Good knowledge of the practices and principles associated with the operation of gas and electricity markets within Australia and internationally. Ability to strategically negotiate with and manage key third party outsourced providers and garner their respect. Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to play an influencing role in the Organisation and Energy Industry. Strong experience in the development of applications solutions to achieve business outcomes. Experience in the leadership of high performing technology teams. Experience in transforming ways of working to be aligned with product-based team models. High level commercial acumen, combined with strong communication and financial modelling skills. Strong and demonstrable customer service and negotiation skills, relationship, and interpersonal skills. Strong knowledge of the vendor, its' market, its competitors, and market trends (desired). Understanding of internal decision making and the decision making that occurs among vendors, including vendor motivations, strategic plans and market challenges. Strong dispute resolution and mediation skills to handle issue escalation.
