Job posted: 24/01/2025 Organisation: Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action Reference: VG/50938107 An exciting managing lawyer role is open for recruitment in the Legal and Legislation Division (LLD) of the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA). Located in the Legislation Branch, the Managing Principal Solicitor is a leadership role for a person experienced in managing teams with authoritative and comprehensive skills and experience in delivering legislative reform. In managing a team of direct reports and working across teams as one LLD, the role is responsible for providing authoritative advice to senior management and staff on a diverse range of legal and legislation issues across DEECA. Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications A law degree An Australian lawyer holding or eligible to hold an Australian practising certificate will be considered favourably. Strong and comprehensive knowledge and experience in developing and delivering legislation and regulations. Demonstrated ability to perform unsupervised and deliver and supervise the delivery of authoritative legal and legislative advice and legislative reform. Demonstrated experience in providing legal advice on any of the following areas of law would be highly regarded: administrative law, agriculture, climate action, emergency management, energy and resources, environment, public land, and water. This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
