Bureau Veritas in Australia is an organization of over 180 engineers and skilled technicians, expert in the provision of all aspects of quality-controlled inspection, risk-based assessment testing, condition monitoring and asset management of plant and equipment.Working from our newly established office/lab/workshop facility in Wollongong, this will be an opportunity for the newly appointed Materials Engineer to support services presence in the region. He/She will work closely with Bureau Veritas’s key clients on the East Coast – ranging from those in the mining and transport industry to OEMs, manufacturers and fabricators.Throughout this exciting journey, the Materials Engineer in Wollongong will be supported by an already highly experienced team, who over the years have grown to become a leading consultancy and preferred supplier to industry.You have experience as a materials engineer (or metallurgist) having spent 2-3 years working in heavy industry, an individual who can work autonomously, is prepared to roll up their sleeves and be hands-on when required and who possesses very good communication and report writing skills.You will be required to do some travel and be very personable with clear communication for client-facing and building client relationships.Required Skills and Qualifications: As a minimum requirement for this role, you will need tertiary qualifications in metallurgy, materials engineering or materials science. 2-3 years of industry experience. You will have analytical strengths. Be able to communicate confidently at all levels. Process and procedure focused. Highly skilled in report writing. Required Experience: Undertaking metallurgical testing and root cause failure analysis investigations. Experience predominantly gained from working in the mining sector but will also consider those with experience gained from working in the manufacturing, power and transport industries.
