Job Description - Mechanical Supervisor - Commissioning (262660) UGL is an employer with a difference, jump on board and experience our incredible journey About the role The role of the Mechanical Supervisor - Commissioning will be responsible for supervising field commissioning activities under direction from Commissioning Lead on the Major Project team in Melbourne. The role is also designed to include the following duties: Assist Commissioning Discipline Lead with review of Vendor commissioning procedures and test documentation. Advise on Vendor proposals and extent of commissioning scope through all commissioning stages. Provide supervisory assistance as required for UGL MEI scope field installation, functional and remote commissioning activities. Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, and vendors to plan commissioning sequences and resource allocation. Monitor progress against the commissioning schedule and adjust plans as needed to meet project deadlines. Identify potential scheduling conflicts and develop mitigation strategies to minimize delays and ensure seamless execution. Attend Vendor / Supplier coordination meetings as required. Review and disseminate work packs with field resources, confident to conduct pre-start and toolbox meetings as required. Assist with development of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and provide input into discipline-based commissioning activities Risk Assessment (RA) process. Ensure correct technical / QA documentation available as required to fulfill commissioning activities. Resolve discipline / equipment related site / escalating engineering queries, prepare, and submit Request for Information (RFI) documents to clarify design intent or resolve construction and commissioning issues. Manage Punch list process for discipline specific punch items- (Raise PL items, track and close out). Coordinate Construction completion tracking, handover, Construction Completion Certificate (CCC) sign-off and acceptance. Input into Commissioning Readiness Review process. Complete Commissioning ITPs / ITRs. Collaborate with third-party inspectors and regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals. Assist with completion of all project documentation and closeout activities in accordance with project requirements and industry standards. Ensure project management of change process is followed to capture variations to scope, ensuring proper documentation and approval processes are adhered to. Mechanical- MVAC / Ventilation Systems specific- Oversee and coordinate Vendor implementation of commissioning of the tunnel ventilation systems including in tunnel jet fans, dampers and MVAC systems and well as ventilation building axial fans, dampers, and acoustic attenuation, ensuring compliance with design and performance specifications. Review and advise on Vendor resolution of technical / engineering issues and proposed actions. Advise and coordinate any regulatory compliance requirements associated with Ventilation / MVAC Systems commissioning- Air quality monitoring, EPA requirements for venting of emissions, notifications, permits, witness points. Mechanical Drainage Systems specific- Oversee Vendor implementation of commissioning of the tunnel drainage systems including the Portal sumps / water discharge plant, the gravity drain system within the tunnel and the Low Point Sump and associated systems ensuring compliance with design and performance specifications. Review and advise on Vendor resolution of technical / engineering issues and proposed actions. Review and advise on any temporary water removal applications- assist with supervision of temporary systems if required. Advise and coordinate any regulatory compliance requirements associated with Drainage Systems commissioning- Water quality monitoring, water disposal, Operation of Low Point Sump pumps and Water Discharge Facility, EPA requirements for water disposal and discharge- notifications, permits, witness points. About you Strong communication skills (oral & written) including negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally. Technically competent within your discipline, with Project / Discipline supervisory experience in the project execution phase including support of construction, commissioning and readying for operation. Experience with Combined Services Co-ordination. Knowledge and understanding of relevant Australian Standards and best practices pertaining to tunnel. Knowledge of related technical disciplines and understanding the interfaces and dependencies between all disciplines an advantage. Understanding of completions management system (CMS) application and processes for construction and commissioning- systemisation, progressive documentation of completed installations, inspections and tests, certifications of completion and punch-list processes. Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, Email. UGL – Big projects. Big careers.
