We deliver 29 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 370,000 residents. The Role The Media Specialist will bring CBCity into the spotlight through strategic media campaigns, advice, responses and ideas. You will explore new channels and opportunities to grow positive sentiment with creative, interesting stories that showcase the great things we do for the community. *This opportunity will be offered on a permanent full-time basis. Duties will include, but are not limited to: Develop, write and research media materials, releases, alerts, pitches and press kits. Coordinate the content for all external media channels, including writing and editing content for media releases, alerts, articles, interviews and ads. Manage responses to media enquiries and the scheduling of media interviews. Organise media briefings, photo opportunities and media conferences as appropriate. Represent the organisation at official functions and events where media engagement is expected. Work with internal customers to discover stories that promote and market what we do, in line with the organisation’s strategic direction. Keep internal customers informed on media issues relevant to their business. You will have: Tertiary qualification in media, journalism, communications, public relations or similar relevant industry qualification/experience. At least three years’ experience in media, communications or public relations. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of multi-channel media, networks and other communication/engagement mediums. High proficiency in a range of writing styles that meet the needs of different audiences, including media releases and responses, interview briefs and talking points for a range of media platforms. Proven ability to translate complex issues into simple language that effectively communicates to the target audience. Demonstrated experience in developing inspiring and engaging content. Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment and responding to breaking news and changing priorities. Attend monthly Council Meetings, and Councillor Briefings as required. Ability to work nights and weekends as required. The salary range for this opportunity commences at $101,423 (Grade H, Step 1) + 11.5% super.
