The Role The Medical Partnerships and Development Officer includes responsibilities for medical activities at Doherty Clinical Trials to support the implementation of early phase clinical trials, consistent with the role of Medical Officers. This role requires oversight from pre-study activities (protocol review, etc.), patient screening, oversight of study activities, including dosing, monitoring for and managing adverse events, through to close out of the clinical trial database. To fulfill the Medical officer component, they will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer, the Nurse Unit Director, and other clinical staff to ensure that participant safety is paramount, and that complete GCP compliance, protocol adherence, and adherence to unit standard operating procedures is maintained. In addition to medical activities, the Medical Partnerships and Development Officer will lead and support initiatives at the intersection of operational and clinical assessment of proposed studies and business development. This role involves leveraging medical knowledge to drive business growth, support selection and implementation of new clinical trial opportunities, foster client relationships, and ensure alignment of clinical services with strategic goals. The Medical Partnerships and Development Officer will oversee multiple clinical trials varying in complexity, with overlapping timelines, and may be required to be involved in all aspects of the participant experience within the clinical trial. We are open to candidates applying for fulltime or part-time (0.6 or 0.8) employment for this role. About You The ideal candidate will bring a mix of communication skills, industry knowledge, and strategic insight to help us grow our network and make a lasting impact in healthcare. To be successful in this position you will have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated relevant clinical experience, ideally in a research or clinical trial setting. In addition, you will have well developed judgement and decision-making skills to prioritise conflicting demands and meet deadlines. You will also be a team player with the ability to support others in the team as needed. You will possess: Current medical registration with AHPRA (minimum General registration) Medical indemnity insurance Current ALS certificate Minimum two years post-graduate clinical experience Demonstrated interest in research and clinical trials Understanding of participant care within a clinical trial/ research setting. Understanding of early phase clinical research Familiarity with business development, client engagement, or strategic planning in a healthcare or research setting. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. Additional desirable attributes are listed below: Post Graduate Medical Qualification GCP Certificate Clinical experience in infectious diseases and/or immunology Experience in medical research and/or medical industry Clinical trial experience Existing Investigator accreditation from the IAOCR or a desire to complete this qualification in the future.
