Together we can do more. The Safe Assessment Unit (SAU) at Shellharbour Hospital Emergency Department (ED) is an exciting new initiative that is due to open in May 2025. The SAU will provide a comprehensive service to consumers presenting to ED with distress, crisis, or acute behavioural disturbance relating to mental health or substance use. The SAU MH CNC will provide comprehensive mental health assessment, treatment, and consultation in collaboration with the SAU multi-disciplinary team including ED Medical Officers, Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Alcohol and Drug Services, Allied Health, and other relevant agencies.A Little About Us. Shellharbour Hospital, located on Dharawal Country, is a busy acute care facility which provides emergency services, elective surgical services, general medicine, antenatal and primary family health care, satellite renal dialysis, and adolescent and adult mental health services on site.
