ABOUT THE ROLE The Penny Gold mine is one of the highest-grade gold mines in Australia and a key contributor to the Mt Magnet mining hub for Ramelius. The Penny mine is a small operation, with one active underground mine and ore transported via road train to the Mt Magnet Checkers Mill.In this role, you will report to the Chief Operating Officer, focusing on supporting the safe and efficient delivery of all underground mining activities at the site. The role is required on a 4 days on, 3 days off FIFO roster from Perth.Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, you will: Lead the safe, effective operations for the underground gold mine, non-processing infrastructure, and haulage activities on site; Oversee the small, site-based technical services team to deliver consistently to the operating mine commitments by setting clear and achievable objectives; Oversee contractor and key relationships including underground mining contractor, haulage contractor, pastoral, and local government stakeholders; Identify and implement performance optimisation strategies to maximise operational and financial outcomes for the mine; Effectively monitor overall performance of the mine to ensure budget and operational targets are met; Work closely with the Executive team and provide direction on mining decisions; Work effectively with the group Technical Services team for long-term planning, near mine exploration, and resource geology activities; Project manage approved mine and functional projects demonstrating excellent safety leadership, planning, and control of delivery. ABOUT YOU To be successful in this role, you will require:West Australian First Class Mine Manager Certificate (FCMMC); Tertiary level Mining Engineering degree or equivalent; Completed or partial completion of the WHS risk management requirements (including examination) for the statutory position; Significant prior experience at Underground Manager level, gained across multiple narrow vein underground environments; Demonstrated achievement of safety, production, and cost targets; Ability to influence and lead positively, with a focus on developing an engaged team culture that prioritises safe delivery of production targets; Strong technical expertise in key technical service areas including medium or long-term mine planning and mine design; Advanced mine planning software skills (Deswik required); A West Australian C class driver’s license (manual) and the ability to obtain a National Police Clearance for site access clearance purposes.
