This role will see you providing leadership and direction to the site Mining, Mine Planning, and mining projects department in delivering annual targets with zero harm to employees, contractors and the environment. You'll be responsible for bringing together all the required business processes to deliver the functional outputs and operational services in a safe and efficient manner to achieve the business goals consistently, predictably and sustainably. This is a permanent, full time position on a 4:3, 4:3, 8:6 roster ex Perth to Mt Holland. Key Responsibilities Actively lead and participate in the establishment of a health and safety culture, leading by example, and setting the required health and safety standards. Ensure a safe working environment where all work is undertaken in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with statutory requirements and Covalent policies & procedures. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the mine by effectively managing and using the available resources to meet production and cost targets. Manage the drill and blast function. Manage civil projects and mine services (including mine site roads). Work with the Geology and Concentrator teams to ensure that the right quantity and quality of ore is delivered to the crusher. Manage all mining contractors. Ensure Quarry Manager role is undertaken appropriately. Contribute to the framework, and strategy for the expected life of the operation to support the life of mine. Ensure the effective implementation of integrated business processes for Mining systems, to identify, plan and schedule, safely execute, accurately monitoring, and continuously improve the departments functions. Responsible for quarterly, monthly, and weekly planning and scheduling of mining activities to ensure maximum productivity of the mine, labour and contractor to achieve operational targets. Responsible for the preparation of multi-year budget and forecasts, including personnel, capital planning and the collation of data on a systematic basis for progressive forecasting and future estimating based on equipment lifecycle principles to manage cost. Provide technical direction and guidance for the mining team. Develop a team culture of continuous improvement aligned with Covalent's values. Act as Alternate SSE on a rotational basis and as required with other Senior Site Leadership. Be a member of the SLT (Site Leadership Team) and participate in establishing and leading shared culture, implementing initiatives, and sharing site responsibility in support of the GM. Role Requirements 15+ years' experience in open pit hard rock mining operations and 5+ years in a management leadership capacity. Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, or advanced diploma. Unrestricted WA Quarry managers qualification. Proven experience in managing open cut mining contracts. Understanding of contractual arrangements and terms and conditions combined with sound knowledge of relevant legislation. Strong people management skills and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams. Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
