We currently have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for several Open Cut Examiner/Supervisors to join the small team at our Broadlea Open Cut. Broadlea is an open cut mine located ~9km northwest of Carborough Downs, sharing key surface infrastructure including the CHPP and train load out facilities. To ensure sustainable operations, Broadlea’s mining method will initially involve excavator and truck operations as we work towards introducing a diesel electrical crawler Dragline in the near future. About the Role We’re seeking a motivated and ambitious Mining Engineer to join our dynamic team at Broadlea, reporting directly to the Open Cut Operations Manager/SSE. As part of a small team, you will be responsible for providing planning, design, and scheduling support for our open cut operations, as well as tracking performance and implementing mine plans. If you’re early in your career and eager to tackle a variety of engineering tasks, this is the perfect role for you. Unlike large, bureaucratic mining companies that limit your exposure to certain tasks, you’ll work in a close-knit team where you’ll be hands-on in advancing Fitzroy’s mining assets. Key Responsibilities & Experience: Bachelor of Engineering (2 years’ experience post grad – preferred) - Will consider recent graduates Experience with Vulcan and SPRY (advantageous) Support the SSE in ensuring compliance with the Qld CMH&S Act and Regulations. Ensure equipment is used according to design specifications and operating guidelines. Build relationships with other departments to maximize resource utilization cost-effectively. Maintain up-to-date mining reserves, forecasts, and coal exposure schedules. Present conceptual designs to mining contractors for feedback and integration into mine planning. Complete monthly reports as per the Month End Reporting Timetable. Collaborate with technical team members to meet project deadlines. Manage contractors and consultants effectively. Identify continuous improvement opportunities to enhance mine planning processes. Promote safety by adhering to safety and environmental standards, modeling safe behaviour, and ensuring safety in all operations. Assist in the implementation of weekly/monthly haulage analysis for operations. Fitzroy Benefits for you!
