Reporting directly to our Chief People & Culture Officer, the National Director WHS & Wellbeing will lead the safety experience at St Vincent’s. Forming part of the People & Culture Leadership Team, you will use your experience to build and lead an integrated and mature workplace health and safety culture across our diverse health businesses. We are looking for vision, expertise and passion to build safety capability to care for our people, so they can care for the patients, residents and consumers we serve in the delivery of our Mission. Key Responsibilities: Build and invest in relationships with St Vincent’s leaders to foster a partnership approach and embed a proactive safety culture in partnership with our operational areas. Lead St Vincent’s national WHS and wellbeing function aimed at creating a safe and healthy working environment to prevent workplace injuries/illness and promote worker wellbeing. Develop and drive implementation of a unified, consistent safety management system across St Vincent’s in line with applicable legislation and standards and best practice. Implement effective risk identification, mitigation and hazard control processes. Ensure injury and claims management programs and practices are established and monitored to promote efficient return to work following workplace injuries or illness. Negotiate with workers' compensation insurers and brokers to optimise policy structure, renewals, and claims management, aimed at minimising premium costs. Identify, consolidate, and promote health and wellbeing programs and resources. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture, promote professional development, and ensure the team's alignment with organisational goals. Ensure compliance with WHS legislation while managing reporting and briefing the Board and National Executive Team on continuous improvement. This role has full autonomy to design, lead and deliver a safety strategy and function that is best practice for health.
