National Manager, NDSS Health Education Location: Flexible (Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane or Hobart) Full-time | Permanent Reporting to: Group Executive, NDSS Flexible work arrangements: 3 days from home / 2 days in-office $150-$180k base + Super + Salary Packaging Benefits: Salary Packaging - Up to $15,900 pretax towards living expenses mortgage/rent + up to $2650 pretax towards entertainment. Overview: Diabetes Australia is seeking a dynamic and experienced National Manager, NDSS Health Education to join their team. This specialist role will be responsible for the strategic direction, creation, editing, and delivery of high-quality health education content, with a primary focus on diabetes self-management. The successful candidate will bring expertise in health education content design, leadership experience, and the ability to mentor and develop a team of writers. They will also drive process improvements and create efficiencies in how content is developed, maintained, and optimized for maximum impact. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Direction & Leadership: Lead the strategic development and management of health education content, particularly focused on diabetes self-management, within the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS). Drive the content creation process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, clinically accurate health education materials. Guide and mentor a team of 3 health content writers and other content leads, fostering their growth. Champion new processes for content lifecycle management, review, and integration of consumer insights into content development. Collaborate closely with marketing and communications teams to align content strategies and ensure consistency across platforms. Content Creation & Maintenance: Oversee the design, development, and editing of educational materials, ensuring alignment with best practice guidelines and clinical evidence. Manage the lifecycle of content, from creation to review and retirement, based on user feedback and insights. Implement processes that streamline content management and prevent content duplication. Innovate and challenge existing methods for content development to improve efficiency, relevance, and impact. Team Building & Mentoring: Lead and develop a small team of health writers, providing training, support, and guidance to ensure content quality and adherence to best practices. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging external contributors when necessary. Develop and mentor the current content lead and writers, further enhancing capability to deliver high-quality content and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Strategic Growth & Influence: Build and maintain a clear vision for the future of health education content creation across the organization, focusing on scalability and the long-term impact of the content produced. Evaluate the potential for turning health education content into a shared service used across various organizational programs beyond NDSS. Advocate for a more efficient, strategic approach to content creation and delivery, using consumer insights, research, and data to inform decision-making. Clinical Governance & Best Practices: Ensure all health education content adheres to clinical guidelines, best practices, and strong governance principles. Collaborate with clinical professionals and other departments to ensure content is current, relevant, and impactful. Effectively manage intellectual property, overseeing a diverse portfolio of content formats, including digital assets, videos, emails, fact sheets, and educational programs. Required Skills & Experience: Health Education Expertise: Proven experience in health education content development, particularly in health management and education. Strong background in instructional design, content development, and authoring educational programs. Familiarity with clinical best practices, health guidelines, and managing content with a clinical focus. Leadership & Mentorship: Demonstrated experience leading teams, particularly content writers or instructional designers, with a focus on professional growth and development. Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to influence, manage ambiguity, and drive organizational change. Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on content creation and team mentorship. Content Lifecycle Management: Experience in managing the entire content lifecycle, including creation, review, update, and retirement of content. A deep understanding of content management processes and how to implement them effectively to ensure efficiency and quality. Stakeholder Collaboration: Ability to work closely with various departments, including marketing, communications, and clinical teams, to ensure alignment on content creation, delivery, and messaging. Experience working with external contributors and managing relationships with vendors and other third-party stakeholders. Strategic Vision & Business Acumen: Ability to think strategically, challenge the status quo, and propose innovative solutions to enhance content development and delivery. Experience using consumer insights, data, and feedback to inform content direction and priorities. Health Sector Experience: Previous experience working within the health/medical sector required. Familiarity with consumer insights, focus groups, and other methods for understanding audience needs. Instructional Design: Experience in instructional design, especially in developing educational programs for diverse audiences. Collaborative Work Style: Comfortable working in a collaborative environment, liaising with clinical, marketing, and communications teams. Cultural Fit: Strong ability to influence and manage organizational change in a complex and evolving environment. Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make decisions that balance strategic vision with practical execution. Passion for creating impactful, high-quality educational content that drives positive health outcomes.
