LET’S EXPLORE THE JOB Our Environmental Systems department has an exciting opportunity to join our Natural Assets Team and lead the development of our forward works programs for Council’s natural areas including foreshore stabilisation and stream rehabilitation, fire trail and access management, natural area strategic works and urban tree planting. You will support the delivery of a coordinated suite of projects to be included in the Natural Assets forward works programs. Your other key focus areas are; Prepare and maintain forward works programs for foreshore stabilisation and stream rehabilitation, fire trail and access management, natural area strategic works and urban tree planting. Review, analyse and develop the 1, 4 and 10-year forward programs in consultation with Councils technical staff and natural asset subject matter experts. Coordinate Program Control Groups to efficiently engage project stakeholders and ensure decisions are made in the context of the overall program. Manage project reporting requirements and frequency, to facilitate accurate program and financial status reporting for the Natural Assets Team and Council. Monitor the project phase gate approval process and ensure projects are managed consistently in accordance with the Enterprise Project Governance Framework. Our ideal candidate has a background in environmental science, or conservation and land management and experience in project portfolio or program management methodologies. You have strong analytical and lateral thinking skills and the ability to drive changes and implement innovative approaches to natural asset management. You have strong financial management and knowledge of the project lifecycle. Your excellent relationship management and engagement skills will assist you to foster collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions for our community. Specifically, you will have: Degree qualifications in a relevant discipline such as environmental science, conservation and land management or experience commensurate with this level of qualification. Demonstrated experience in the financial management of projects and/or programs. Demonstrated experience in the development of complex multi-disciplinary programs, including feasibility studies, project budgeting and financial reporting, project scheduling, stakeholder engagement and project risk management. Proven ability to critically analyse project objectives, identify opportunities, risks, and benefits, and manage conflicting stakeholder requirements. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities. High-level problem solving and interpersonal skills, with a proven track-record of building and maintaining relationships while maintaining objectivity. Demonstrated ability to plan and co-ordinate project delivery.
