Nurse Unit Manager - Medical/Surgical Ward 2 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants We are seeking a Nurse Unit Manager, Med/Surg ward at North West Private Hospital, a 48 bed acute medical, surgical and psychiatric single-level hospital located in the scenic coastal city of Burnie in Tasmania. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Clinical Nurse / NUM with advanced clinical knowledge in Medical Surgical Nursing. The successful applicant will report to the Director of Nursing and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all aspects of our medical surgical ward (17 ward and 4 HDU beds). As part of the Healthe Care team, you can expect: Flexible working conditions to ensure a healthy work-life balance Collaboration with like-minded professionals across a multi-disciplinary team Wellbeing programs including discounted private health insurance Commitment to career development, ongoing training and development Paid parental leave Novated lease opportunities On-site parking Responsibilities Will Include Providing leadership in contemporary nursing practice and promoting an environment conducive to innovation and change Manage the financial, physical, and human resources of the medical/surgical unit to achieve agreed service outcomes (KPI’s) within the allocated budget Monitor, manage and report on the ward’s performance and activity levels Lead and manage the coordination of patient care within the ward in accordance with best practice principles and within a collaborative multidisciplinary framework Actively participate in and contribute to the NWPH Quality and Safety program ensuring that quality and safety improvement processes are in place and acted upon Ensure current legislation, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards and organisational policies and practices maintain a safe workplace Promote a learning environment including taking responsibility for your own professional development Monitor and manage staff performance and development Essential Criteria AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Mental Health Nurse Minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing A comprehensive knowledge of general and orthopaedic nursing requirements Relevant post graduate qualifications A high level of initiative and resilience Desirable Criteria Previous experience in the management of human and financial resources Post-graduate management qualifications, or working towards same Experience in a management position Who We Are We’re about Real People and Extraordinary Care!
