The Opportunity As a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Bathurst Health Service, you will have a personal commitment to providing an effective and efficient inpatient and outpatient service and an unequivocal dedication to working as part of a multidisciplinary team. This position offers a broad experience in all aspects of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. You will have a demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and to providing supervision and training to learners at all levels. With over 500 births a year, the maternity service is a dynamic and important part of the Bathurst Health Service. Maternity services are provided to our community through the collaboration of Specialist Obstetricians, Midwives, GP Obstetricians, Child and Family Health, Aboriginal Maternal & Infant Health Service, Perinatal Mental Health and Specialist Paediatric services. Bathurst Health Service is a level 4 role delineated regional maternity service with a level 3 special care nursery. What are we looking for? Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FRANCOG) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA or New Zealand. The Medical Board of Australia implemented a new expedited pathway to specialist registration in December 2024, eliminating the need for a specialist assessment with a specialist medical college for those with an accepted qualification in certain specialties. Obstetrics and Gynaecology is the next priority specialty to be considered.
