Selection Criteria Ability to develop and deliver a comprehensive student-centred Occupational Therapy service in an educational setting. Demonstrated ability to assess each student's learning needs and formulate curriculum based individual goals and support plans. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills when working with students, families, teachers and other professionals. Excellent time management skills to act as a resource person in the area of Occupational Therapy and prioritisation of responsibilities to ensure the role is most effective. Ability to work effectively in a trans-disciplinary team as well as facilitate Occupational Therapy groups. Ability to work independently, to accept supervision as required, and an ability to seek support and implement recommendations. Ability to evaluate programs, interventions, your professional performance, and provide evidence of outcomes. Role The Occupational Therapists will be based in the College Inclusion Team. They will be responsible for conducting assessments to identify goals, strengths and barriers to learning then recommending strategies or changes to the environment to increase participation within the school setting. The role works in partnership with the Disability Inclusion Coordinator and Leading Teacher Inclusion to support students with disabilities and additional needs to achieve high-quality outcomes at the College. Must hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) and Working with children's check (WWC). Responsibilities In consultation with the Leading Teacher Inclusion and Disability Inclusion Coordinator conduct assessments and developing individualised intervention and therapy plans for children with various physical, cognitive, and psychosocial impairments. Provide expert advice and recommendations for teachers that inform the development of Individual Education plans for students with disabilities. Deliver high-quality occupational therapy interventions (individual and small groups) to assist children achieve their IEP goals. Work cooperatively and effectively within the interdisciplinary school staff to provide families with a high quality, coordinated service. Providing education and support to children, staff and families to support targeted students to develop functional independence and the self-management of their daily needs. Maintain accurate and comprehensive records, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organisational requirements. Participate in continuous professional development activities to stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices. Liaising with other allied health and medical professionals as required. Provide verbal feedback to parents, and verbal or written assessment feedback to school staff as appropriate. Complete written progress notes in accordance with school requirements. Liaise with teachers and provide advice on modifying classroom tasks in order to best meet student needs. Participate in Student Support Group Meetings and other school based meetings as required.
