About our team National Operations | Tobacco & E-Cigarette Wofg TF | N/A | Office of the ITEC Commissioner The Public Health (Tobacco and Other Products) Act 2023 (the Act) establishes the illicit Tobacco and E-cigarette (ITEC) Commissioner. These positions will support the ITEC Commissioner and Commander through a coordinated approach to strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and event management, focusing on the ITEC's role in implementing whole of government strategies to address illicit tobacco and e-cigarettes. The positions actively manage external stakeholder relationships with key stakeholders both internally and across other Commonwealth, State and Territory agencies, including law enforcement agencies. Highly organised, delivering results while running multiple projects with competing deadlines. Ability to identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources. Policy analysis, research and problem-solving skills. Duties and responsibilities There are a variety of positions available at the EL1 level. The Assistant Director/Inspector, Strategic Policy Section plays a key role in analytical and research activities to assess complex information from a range of sources to inform evidence-based advice that contributes to policy and or strategy development, including legislative change. They will be critical in connecting and influencing broader policy and national strategies for addressing illicit tobacco and e-cigarettes. They will need to efficiently synthesise materials into briefings and advice, objectively assess evidence and apply facts within a legal and policy setting. The Assistant Director/Inspector, ITEC Reporting Section is responsible for overseeing the drafting of responses to Questions on Notice, drafting ministerial submissions, briefs, correspondence and Question Time Briefs and ensuring these are tailored to have a clear purpose, the right audience and considers the environment. They lead the drafting of high-level briefings for the ITEC Commissioner supporting their attendance at Parliamentary Inquiries or Hearings and Senate Estimates. The Assistant Director/Inspector, ITEC Engagement, Governance and Communication operates in a dynamic, high-profile environment and undertakes work under broad direction. They must be able to quickly grasp high-level strategic issues and directions and convey them simply and effectively to a broad audience. They are responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating communication strategies and plans that support whole of Government strategies for addressing illicit tobacco and e-cigarettes, cross-agency engagement, designs and promotes major events and announcements.
