We are seeking a proactive, inquisitive, and commercially minded Operating Model Business Analyst to join a high-impact operational transformation program at a globally recognised university. This program is laser-focused on achieving cost savings whilst maintaining or enhancing service quality across teaching, research, and operations.This is not an IT Business Analyst role and not a typical project delivery position - this is about business-wide process optimisation, operational sustainability, and economies of scale. This role is crucial in identifying how the institution can deliver the same (or better) service quality at a lower cost while adapting to evolving industry challenges. What You'll Be Doing Analyse the organisation at a macro level - break down processes into value chains, economies of scale, and cost-efficiency models. Develop and refine operating models - assess existing structures and create financially sustainable service delivery frameworks. Map end-to-end university operations - from student recruitment to graduation, research funding strategies, and workforce planning. Identify cost savings opportunities - evaluate the true cost of service delivery across on-campus, blended, and virtual learning . Engage with senior stakeholders - collaborate with leadership and key decision-makers to align analysis with the university's strategic priorities. Support business case development for change - including restructuring and workforce planning with maturity and empathy . Provide insights on financial sustainability - assess revenue generation, research investment, and cost per service unit. What We're Looking For A true Business Analyst - You ask the right questions, do the research, and uncover inefficiencies others miss . Process Mapping Expertise - You have deep experience in "As-Is" and "To-Be" process mapping and process optimisation at scale. Commercially Minded - You understand the cost of service delivery, economies of scale, and operational efficiency models . Big-Picture Thinker - You can zoom out to see the macro problem rather than getting lost in the details. Stakeholder Savvy - You can confidently engage C-suite leaders, academic staff, and operational teams to drive alignment. Empathetic & Mature - You understand that transformation involves people, not just processes . Essential Skills & Experience Proven experience in business-wide process optimisation (not just project-level improvements). Strong ability to translate complex business operations into clear, actionable insights . Experience working in large, complex organisations with multiple stakeholders. Ability to work across people, process, and technology change initiatives . Strong understanding of financial sustainability, cost of service delivery, and business analysis frameworks . Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, including with executive leadership. Nice-to-Have (But Not Required) Experience in higher education OR startup-like transformation projects. Familiarity with Higher Education Reference Models and sector-wide challenges. Understanding of research funding models, student lifecycle management, or workforce planning Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping , or other process improvement methodologies.
