The Operation Assistant works within the team environment to maintain the highest standards of support necessary to facilitate the movement and care of patients within the operating theatre. Excellent communication skills, including good comprehension, confidence in the spoken word and ability to deal courteously with people at all levels. Demonstrated ability to work in and be part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, show initiative and use effective problem-solving skills when performing tasks. Demonstrated ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality. Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines. Capacity to work under broad supervision and to undertake a diverse range of tasks as an effective member of a team in a high-pressure, high-volume work environment. Ability to perform the physical demands of this position, such as push or pull mobile waste bins, patient beds and trolleys frequently.
