Apply now Job no: 496222Work type: Full timeLocation: New South WalesCategories: Management, Transport & Logistics, Warehousing, Storage & Distribution About the role The Operations Manager – NAT, primary objective is to manage the Operations and maintenance teams in a safe, environmentally sensitive and efficient manner. Liaise and work with the Quality Team on managing quality of product received and in storage and maintain integrity of stored product to meet customer requirements. This involves implementing, monitoring and reporting operations in accordance with company requirements. Responsibilities Leading and Embedding a Safety Culture Demonstrate and disseminate a positive safety culture throughout all levels of the business and operations. Mentor and encourage employee consultation that add value to site safety, health, risk management, environmental compliance and quality. Comply with and promote the NAT and QUBE Agri Safety Management System (SMS). Establish procedures and work instructions for required operational tasks including verifying operators are trained and assessed as competent where required. Assist in the development and promotion of the SMS by ensuring that risks are identified, eliminated, mitigated or managed so far as is reasonably practicable. Ensure that the relevant persons are notified of all category A and B safety incidents in accordance with SMS. Participate in accident and incident investigations and ensure that appropriate follow up actions are taken. Participate in required safety activities for the site as required including Safety Engagements, Critical risk reviews, Contractor Audits, Workplace Inspections, Risk Register reviews as nominated and amended from time to time as part of the SMS. Operational Planning Problem solving conflicts in Operations plans in conjunction with Logistics Manager and Terminal Manager. Review accumulation schedule for rail and road receivals with Logistics Manager and manage accumulation schedules to maintain maximum operational efficiency. Providing timely operational information and operational support to the site. Review and Maintain Maintenance system to reflect completed works and planned maintenance in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager. Co-ordinate required Contractors and Terminal Operators to complete required operational and maintenance tasks. Manage and co-ordinate required maintenance and improvement projects for the Terminal, in conjunction with Maintenance Manager, Terminal Manager and Contracted Project Manager. Maintaining sound house-keeping practices and high hygiene standards in accordance with Department of Agriculture Registered Establishment and Site requirements. Monitor and Review Operational performance Metrics. Identifying opportunities for improving operational efficiency in line with business strategy and objectives. Manage berth access for D2 with Aurizon Port Services for required Maintenance planning, both AZN Port Services and NAT. Perform duties of Chief Warden in an Emergency Situation. Perform duties of Deputy Port Facility Security Officer. Encourage the process of a ‘just culture’ throughout the organization. People leadership and development – a focus on development of both direct and indirect reports, via regular feedback, coaching and performance management. Set and communicate working Roster in line with Operational requirements. Manage Roster including Leave for NAT Fulltime and Maxwell employees to ensure operational coverage. Work with Contractors to ensure adequate coverage for operational needs. Maintain Weekly operations Plan with forward plan for following week. Vessel Management Co-ordinate with Logistics Manager on overall vessel loading plan to identify operational problems and identify solutions with plan prior to and during vessel loading. Co-ordinate with logistics Manager on shipping plan, ensuring stevedore coverage in place for required shifts. Co-ordinate with Stevedores and Terminal Operations Supervisors on loading sequence changes to match cargo accumulation as required. Manage vessel berthing and movements on berth with ships agentsLiaise with load Master on berth position that meets Port Authority Ship Handling Safety Guidelines. Provide berth position to Agent for berthing. Submit and Manage Haulage Forms when vessels are required to move on berth during loading. Liaise with Vessel agents as required for changes to vessel operations, to be managed through Terminal Supervisors. Liaise with Load Masters for vessel changes or requirements. Skills/Qualifications required A minimum of 5 years' experience in Terminal Operations or similar Bulk Logistics Operations. The quality of service delivery is measured and managed in a culture of performance management and safety, health, risk, environment and quality controls. Quality is managed through reference to standards, documented procedures and KPI’s, while ensuring that safety is maintained by following risk management, incident reporting, and investigation procedures. Developing leadership to enable a motivated and high performing team. High level of Customer service to meet and exceed customer expectations.
