As the Operations Manager , you will be responsible for the management of the Customer Service department, overseeing third-party stakeholders including Ground Service Providers, as well as the development and implementation of short and long-term strategic improvement and change initiatives for Canberra Airport. This position requires the delivery of agreed service standards for Qantas within defined financial, operational, people, safety and compliance objectives. Reporting to the Airport Manager, this role is responsible for driving strategy design and continuous improvement by challenging existing business practices to enhance sustainability and efficiency as well as fostering a customer-centric culture through the business. Utilising your analytical and operational knowledge, you will ensure performance targets are understood and achieved for all operational requirements and support the operational leadership team in driving those standards. In addition, this position is responsible for managing the relationship with the local airport authority, internal Qantas business units, and external stakeholders. The role will also be required to act as a delegate for the Airport Manager in their absence. You’ll have – Management experience in an operational environment with people management responsibility Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and prioritising conflicting tasks Commercially focused with the ability to correctly assess the impact of decisions on business outcomes, with a proven track record of achieving KPI targets Intermediate to advanced level literacy with Microsoft Office suite. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel essential Demonstrated success in managing medium to long term projects or programs of work in a commercial or operational environment. Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence, continuous improvement philosophy, and managing a safe workplace Proven record of successfully managing change and implementing continuous improvement activities. Demonstrated people and leadership skills including employee development, conflict resolution and negotiation skills Working knowledge of industrial relations practices and human resources policies and procedures, including demonstrated success in managing disputes, grievances, investigations in an industrialised landscape Demonstrated stakeholder management skills with a proven track record of collaboration across business units, functions and teams Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality Why Qantas?
