Job Description

The Role: This is an exciting opportunity to join the Dhuramein Nominees family, a business that is family-owned and operated in both New South Wales and Victoria. The position is for an Operations Manager on their Victorian farm located near Stawell. The farm spans 10,000 acres, with 4,000 acres dedicated to dryland winter cropping and the remainder used for grazing sheep. The business is experiencing significant growth and is making a substantial shift from a large-scale Merino operation to a predominantly cropping farm. Their goal is to produce high-quality crops, including wheat, barley, faba beans, canola, and vetch, while also planting some fodder crops for sheep grazing. As the Operations Manager, you will supervise one employee and be actively involved in day-to-day tasks, managing the farm's performance throughout the year. You will ensure that the farm plan and operations are executed to a high standard, providing reports and feedback to the owners, agronomists, and other necessary parties. Key Responsibilities: Operating and maintaining sowing and harvesting machinery. Assisting with hay production. Maintaining accurate records for spraying, fertilizer, and animal health products. Effective communication with agronomists and contractors. Working on sheep management tasks, including mustering and general animal husbandry activities (such as drenching, vaccinating, and back lining). Assisting with feeding, whether in a feedlot or pasture. General farm maintenance and repairs, including fencing, pump, engine, and machine maintenance. The Offer: We offer a competitive remuneration package that includes farm accommodation, a work vehicle, and a utilities package. These benefits will be negotiated based on the applicant’s experience. As a growing business undertaking a significant on-farm renovation, we encourage opportunities for growth within this role, and advancement will be rewarded. The accommodation features a comfortable four-bedroom brick house, complete with two bathrooms and a spacious lounge. It is located approximately 1 km away from other residences, ensuring a peaceful and quiet environment. The property is situated in the Wimmera region, 13 km from the township of Navarre and 25 km from Marnoo. Larger nearby centres include Stawell, 40 km away, and St Arnaud, 41 km away, where you can find all major amenities. The Ideal Candidate: The successful applicant must be self-motivated, energetic, and able to show initiative and independence. They should also have a strong passion for agriculture and business growth and be able to work both in a team environment and independently. Essential skills include problem-solving and the capacity to think on their feet. While managerial experience is preferred, it is not essential. However, experience in cropping is required. We also value candidates who are eager to improve their knowledge and skills, including pursuing Chemical Certificate training, obtaining HR or MC truck licenses, and participating in relevant field days and seed variety trials. Register Your Interest: If you feel that you’re the right fit for this position, please submit an up-to-date resume along with the contact details of 3 references. Preference will be given to those who supply a cover letter addressing their suitability - that is, tell us what you love about the role and how you think you’re the right fit.
