Apply now Job no: 496208Work type: Full timeLocation: New South Wales, AustraliaCategories: Management, Transport & Logistics, Import, Export & Customs, Ports About the role The key task of the Operations Manager is to manage the terminal operations employees of the Quattro Ports Port Kembla Grain Terminal in accordance with the Quattro Ports Port Kembla Grain Terminal Enterprise Agreement. The Operations Manager will ensure operational targets are met and exceeded to maximise Quattro Ports PKGT throughput. Specific Responsibilities The maintenance of a safe working environment for all terminal employees, contractors and visitors - at all times. The implementation of the Quattro Ports Drug & Alcohol Policy for all employees, contractors and visitors. The Operations Manager is the Custodian for the Quattro Ports PKGT Drug & Alcohol procedure. Organising the Quattro Ports PKGT OH&S Committee in accordance with the agreed annual meeting schedule. Ensuring all Quattro Ports PKGT Incidents/Injuries, Near Misses and Hazards are reported in the Safety Management System. The Operations Manager is the Custodian and local administrator for the Safety Management System. Undertaking Risk Assessments with relevant operations team members for all work/tasks not defined by existing Work Instructions. Scheduling workplace inspections and safety engagements to ensure procedural standards are maintained. The management of the return to work of injured employees and the liaison with Quattro Port’s Workers Compensation insurer. Maintaining sound housekeeping practices and high hygiene standards in accordance with Department of Agriculture Registered Establishment and ECGS compliance, as well as HACCP requirements. Compliance to the Quattro Ports Environmental Management Policy to ensure all activities undertaken at the terminal comply with all relevant planning permits, environmental laws and regulations. The provision of leadership, technical knowledge and operational experience toward achieving safety performance, cost control and operational efficiencies. The daily allocation of terminal operations employees: In accordance with the Quattro Ports Port Kembla Grain Terminal Enterprise Agreement; Such that the terminal is manned efficiently and cost effectively while ensuring that Quattro Port’s safety, environmental and quality obligations are met; Within the directions of the Quattro Port’s Fatigue Management Policy. Administering the Quattro Ports PKGT Annual Leave roster to ensure availability of sufficient terminal operations employees to undertake the required inloading, storage and handling and outloading tasks. Undertaking both positive and corrective performance management (including annual performance reviews where relevant) of terminal operations employees. The management of the Quattro Ports PKGT Stevedoring Services Agreement. The management of the Quattro Ports PKGT Grain Dust Transport and Disposal Services Agreement. Monitoring and reviewing agreed operational performance metrics. Identifying opportunities for improving operational efficiency in line with business strategy and objectives. All other required duties as required to support Quattro Port’s business activities. Managing operations on behalf of Koch Fertiliser Australia in accordance with the Storage and Handling Agreement for all fertiliser operations. The administration of the Quattro Ports Skills and Qualifications Matrix and all employee training requirements. Strong knowledge of safety management (behavioural based safety, safety metric reporting, safety leadership). Good communication, presentation and reporting skills. Sound understanding of the Port Elevation business (Grain Handling and Storage, Shipping and Supply Chain Logistics). Organising, planning and priority setting, problem solving and decision making skills. Quality management (e.g. record keeping, ISO accreditations). Knowledge of continuous improvement / lean or six sigma theory. Understanding of Industrial Relations (including Enterprise Bargaining) and Human Resources management.
