Wow Houseboats is seeking a skilled and versatile Houseboat Operations and Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance and operations for Wow Factor (one houseboat only) . This unique role combines hands-on maintenance work with managerial responsibilities to ensure the smooth functioning of our houseboat operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage a team effectively. Responsibilities: Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and maintenance tasks on houseboats, including motors, generators, inverters, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, structural repairs and other general handyman requirements. Repairs: Diagnose and address any issues or malfunctions promptly to minimise downtime and ensure the safety and comfort of guests. Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies to facilitate efficient repairs and maintenance. Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect staff and guests, including regular safety inspections and adherence to regulatory requirements. Guest Relations: Interact with guests to address any maintenance concerns promptly and ensure a positive experience during their stay. Budget Management: Develop and manage the maintenance budget, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities where possible. Contractors and Procurement Management: Liaise and coordinate with external organisations and contractors for specialised repairs or services as needed. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment warranties. Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. After-hours telephone support to guests for technical or safety issues with the operation of the houseboat. Requirements: MUST BE Coxswain 3 certified. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Valid boat license and/or willing to obtain one. Proven experience in maintenance, preferably in a marine or hospitality setting. Strong technical skills with knowledge of outboard motors, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting/fibreglass and carpentry systems. Ability to rescue the houseboat with a ski boat if/when required. Proficiency in basic IT skills required; familiarity with Google Suite (i.e., Gmail, Google Calendar, Spreadsheets) preferred, or willingness to learn. Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and manage a small team effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training preferred. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
