Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities: Assist members with choosing eyeglass frames and lens options appropriate to prescription. Fit and adjust lenses to eyeglass frames. Dispense eyeglasses and contacts. Measure member's eyes for pupillary distance to determine bifocal placement. Answer questions and address problems regarding prescriptions, merchandise, and services. Refer to Optometrist when appropriate. Process sales and organise member prescriptions. Place special orders to outside suppliers. Stock department equipment, merchandise, and supplies. Follow department procedures and standards for production, record keeping, merchandise, and merchandise storage. Clean department and count register at sign on. Ensure register cleanliness. Order change, cash increases, and loans when needed. Make witnessed drops/deposits of excess funds to the vault; order cash increase and count own register at shift end to maintain accurate register funds. Receive accurate payment for merchandise; make changes; process credit and debit charges according to proper departmental procedures for paperwork and performance of duties. Exercise discretion and confidentiality with all patient information. Follow proper Optical Center, general safety and security procedures, and standards. Assist in other departments of the warehouse as necessary. Provide prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and suppliers. The successful applicant will: Have a Cert IV qualification in Optical Dispensing (preferably completed) which is highly desirable. Be an excellent team player. Have strong communication skills. Enjoy high attention to detail. Have previous Optical experience preferred or currently completing/completed Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing. Additional Information: Parking provided. Working hours will include a Saturday or Sunday. Penalty rates apply on weekends and public holidays. Must be available for one or two late shift finishes at 8:45 PM per week.
