This is a Waterfront Law firm heavily steeped in iconic property development and complex M&A across the tourism and hotel space. Given their strength in these project spaces, this presents a strategic opportunity for a construction specialist to step in and be funneled the construction referrals. During a critical phase of expansion and advancement, the Firm is presently committed to enhancing its market influence within commercial property and development, construction, and hospitality and tourism sectors. They are actively pursuing a discernible and calculated strategy aimed at amplifying growth, recruitment efforts, developmental endeavours, and augmenting financial gains throughout its operations. The Role The firm requires both back and front-end construction skills but is very open to a specialist or passion for one side versus the other. Ultimately, they are looking for a potential leader for Construction, perhaps someone who is currently blocked from a leadership role. They provide referrals across both areas however they are seeking a commercially savvy and capable profile in Queensland that will also bring their own respected reputation to the table. Strategic growth from there might look like adding a secondary resource to complement the Partner’s focus in Construction Law. Matters of interest to receive would include construction contracts (including head contracts, subcontracts, consultant’s agreements, supplier agreements and specialty agreements), preparing adjudication applications and responses, advising on licensing issues for builders, engineers and architects and often contractor driven construction disputes. 2025 presents a focus on growing the firm Partners per head. In a broader legal environment, where on market opportunities to a first Partnership wane due to blockages around internal promotion, this group are providing a clear path to creating your own entrenched standing with clients. An excellent incentive program and strong junior resourcing are providing the solid foundation to carve out a required partnership. You will hold: LLB, strong academics. Minimum of 9 years PQE, Construction Law focused. A willingness to absorb commercial mentorship and handle existing firm clients with care and pragmatic outcome-based thinking. Strategic thinker – able to think commercially and would genuinely enjoy creating their own brand and having a voice at the Partnership table.
