Patient Services Specialist Pulmonology - Days (FT) The Patient Services Specialist (PSS) is responsible for welcoming and directing patients, answering, screening, routing phone calls, and checking patients in and out. The PSS will also be responsible for collecting co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, and outstanding balances. Job Specific: Promptly answer and direct all incoming phone calls to the appropriate area. (EF) Check patients in and out accurately and efficiently. (EF) Verify and update all patient demographics. Obtain, confirm, and enter patient insurance information. Schedule patients according to clinic protocol and guidelines. (EF) Prepare charts and print encounter tickets prior to patient visit. (EF) Confirm appointments and document responses in EMR. (EF) Receive and upload laboratory, imaging, and other procedural results into the patient’s e-chart. Collect outstanding balances, co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles. (EF) Reconcile the cash drawer as per CMP Business Office guidelines. Process inbound and/or outbound referrals. Hospital: Adhere to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures. Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital’s Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations. Perform within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines. Perform within professional Scope of Practice. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Required: High School education or GED Preferred: Prior experience working in a medical practice/office. EXPERIENCE Required: At least one year of experience in a healthcare related field. Preferred: Prior experience working in a medical practice/office. Special Skills and Abilities: Required: Basic computer skills, an ability to effectively communicate, and a willingness to travel to satellite clinics. Preferred: Familiar with medical terminology, proficient in Microsoft Office, and prior experience with an electronic medical record platform.
