Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, the Payroll Compliance Manager will be responsible for ensuring the Total Tools Retail network’s payroll processes are fully compliant with Fair Work legislation and industry regulations. This role leads payroll processes and compliance initiatives to safeguard against legislative risk, drive operational excellence, and support the retail network by ensuring accurate payroll and Time & Attendance record-keeping. Sounds great! Tell me about the role. Develop, implement, and maintain a payroll compliance framework aligned with Fair Workobligations. Lead the successful implementation and continuous improvement of the Time & Attendancesystem across all Total Tools stores Provide comprehensive training and upskilling for payroll and back-office teams on payrollprocesses, record-keeping, and compliance best practices. Monitor compliance standards, ensuring accurate payroll processing across the networkusing the Time & Attendance and Pronto payroll systems. Conduct regular payroll audits and compliance health checks, ensuring adherence togovernance standards. Oversee and authorise all aspects of payroll processing, including payroll tax,superannuation, and child support payments. Support store acquisitions by coordinating payroll compliance during due diligence, preacquisition, and integration phases. Oversee payroll reviews for new acquisitions and ensure correct payroll configurations for allemployees. Drive the implementation of the Time & Attendance system for new acquisitions, providingpost-acquisition support for ongoing compliance. Conduct post-acquisition payroll health checks and provide continuous improvementrecommendations. Act as the primary point of contact for payroll compliance across the Total Tools network,ensuring effective collaboration with Franchisees, JV Partners, and internal teams. Establish structured reporting and communication channels, providing regular updates oncompliance performance and risks to senior leadership. Engage with external regulatory bodies (e.g., Fair Work Ombudsman, ATO, Services Australia)as required. Together with the head of P&C, develop and update payroll policies to reflect legislativechanges and best practices. Implement risk assessment and mitigation strategies to prevent payroll non-compliance. Champion a culture of continuous improvement by identifying areas for processenhancement and ensuring compliance standards evolve with regulatory updates. About you! Minimum 5+ years of experience in payroll leadership or management roles. Proven experience in implementing and managing payroll systems such as Pronto and Time& Attendance software. Sound proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Experience handling confidential information with integrity. Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. In-depth knowledge of the General Retail Industry Award, Storage Services and WholesaleAward, and Clerks Private Sector Award. Certifications such as Certificate IV in Payroll Administration or equivalent (desirable). Life at Metcash Experience a supportive and flexible work environment.
