Job Description

We are currently seeking a full-time Payroll Operations Lead to be based at Brightwater Central in Inglewood. Reporting to the Manager People & Culture, Governance, your role will be to lead all payroll and employee compliance functions across Brightwater, ensuring that the fortnightly payroll is completed in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner. You will be responsible for ensuring data integrity and ongoing accuracy of employee records through regular audits and support the team through a continuous improvement approach. Key areas of responsibilities include: Coordinate and assist general payroll functions in relation to employee salaries and benefits, ensuring payments are made in an accurate and timely manner. Oversee payroll and salary administration, ensuring compliance with relevant agreements, legislation, and organisational policies. Deliver and maintain a regular audit process with respect to payroll activities and employee records to identify issues in relation to data integrity or process compliance. Interact and build relationships with key stakeholders and management to ensure that ongoing service delivery requirements are met. As a payroll professional, you will have an unbridled passion for your craft and be able to lead a small but mighty team in handling complex payroll issues across multiple service delivery areas. This role will be hands-on and will assist in the delivery of the fortnightly pay run for over 2,700 staff. Your ability to engage with different stakeholders, including management, is second to none, as is your desire for continuous improvement and adherence to legal obligations and legislative compliance. To be successful in this role, you will: Have substantial hands-on experience in coordination and management of a team, ensuring general payroll functions in relation to employee salaries and benefits are made in an accurate and timely manner. This includes ensuring compliance with relevant agreements, legislation, organisational policies, and audit requirements are met. Be able to contribute to the development and delivery of relevant operational plans, including key objectives and goals whilst working within budget. Have demonstrated experience in maintaining and applying continuous improvement strategies to improve relevant systems and processes, driving efficiencies and workflow automation wherever possible. Be effective in managing employee records and oversee the compliance (both internal and external) of employee documentation with internal policies and legislative and regulatory requirements. Be able to provide advice and direction on the interpretation and application of contracts, agreements, and legislative requirements. Be able to supervise the activities of the Payroll and People Compliance team, driving a high-performance, customer-focused team environment with a continuous improvement approach. This includes conducting staff reviews for direct reports; ensuring team members are performing to the expected standard; identifying and appropriately addressing performance issues/concerns; and providing team members with development and training opportunities. Have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Be proficient in the use of Human Resource Management Information Systems (HRMIS) and advanced skills across Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel. Have or be able to obtain a satisfactory National Police Clearance obtained in the last 12 months. Attainment of a Cert IV in Payroll Administration will also be highly regarded.
