Payroll Services sits within the Business Services branch, which is a multifaceted branch within the Chief Financial Officer Command. The AFP Payroll Services deliver fortnightly pays to approximately 8,000 employees using SAP. We have a complex and fast-paced operating environment, which means that there is never a dull day and always something new to learn. As a member of the Payroll Services team, you will work in the administration of conditions of service and entitlements for AFP employees including processing of pay, leave and superannuation. This team supports the delivery of payroll services to AFP employees by processing payroll transactions, providing advice on pay related matters and monitoring areas of risk. What will you do? There are currently three different positions available within Payroll Services. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Payroll Team Member - Band 3 Day to day payroll processing, including calculation of employee entitlements to strict deadlines Undertaking general administrative duties associated with the provision of payroll services to the agency Working collaboratively with your team to deliver high quality payroll service Participating as a constructive team member to deliver ongoing improvements, quality of service and professional practices and standard Building subject matter expertise through on the job training and learning opportunities Communicating outcomes in line with AFP's Enterprise Agreement and related legislation, policies and procedures Contributing to a positive and energetic team culture Payroll Team Member - Band 4 In addition to the Band 3 responsibilities Interpreting and providing information to staff related entitlements and conditions of service in line with the Enterprise Agreement and related legislation, policies and procedures Further develop subject matter expertise through ongoing development and learning opportunities Payroll Senior Team Member - Band 5 In addition to the Band 3 and Band 4 responsibilities Undertake payroll processing, including calculating employee entitlements and processing complex cases Contribute to issue resolution and innovation Provide mentoring and guidance to team members Influencing and implementing business improvements related to operational practices, procedures and guidelines Maintaining currency in subject matter expertise through on-going professional development and learning opportunities Mentoring, developing and supporting team members to contribute to a positive and energetic team culture Essential Requirements Essential Requirements (Band 3, Band 4 and Band 5) You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one Essential Requirements (Band 3) Interest in developing payroll processing skills Essential Requirements (Band 4) Contemporary Payroll, Superannuation, Human Resources, Corporate and/or Finance experience Essential Requirements (Band 5) 2 years Payroll experience Contemporary Payroll, Superannuation, Human Resources, Corporate and/or Finance experience Experience with Payroll Systems such as SAP or similar Desirable Requirements Desirable Requirements (Band 3 and Band 4) Experience with Payroll Systems such as SAP or similar Desirable Requirements (Band 5) Payroll project experience Additional Information When applying you will be asked to nominate your preferred band level, however final determination of the band level you are found suitable for is at the discretion of the panel This role is located in Canberra and applicants are expected to be based in Canberra or willing to relocate to Canberra Selection Criteria Organising your work, making sound decisions and achieving outcomes Communicating and working effectively with other people Applying technical knowledge, expertise and skills Application Please submit the following documents via our Jobs portal prior to the closing date and time: Resume/CV -This will form the basis for determining your suitability against the position requirements and give the panel a clear outline of your current knowledge and qualifications along with previous experiences.
