The key purpose of this exciting role is to coordinate the learning and performance environments and resources in our Performing Arts precinct and coordinate the technical support (sound and vision/lighting) required for events. Each year the St Michael’s calendar is filled with a spectacular array of concerts, performances, recitals, musicals, dramatic performances, and community events, and this role is positioned to ensure optimum efficiency and success of the technical components required for Teaching, Learning, and Caring in the Performing Arts, on campus and offsite. This role will commence in February 2025 and is ongoing, full-time. The successful applicant must: Degree or equivalent experience in Sound and/or Lighting for Live Theatre and Music productions. Experience in an education setting would be highly regarded. Demonstrated skills in providing the technical services for successful theatrical and concert projects. Demonstrated skills and practical experience across a broad range of technical production settings such as, but not limited to, sound, lighting, digital content creation, backstage, rigging (e.g., patching and focusing of whole lighting rigs including moving fixtures and intelligent LED fixtures); experience sound designing a Live Production. Proven track record in effectively managing technical resources at the highest standard – including: people, places, and equipment required to deliver a performance event and program. Demonstrated experience in working in a theatre/music production environment. Ability to draw on an experienced network of professional production contacts. Demonstrated ability to develop, document, and effectively communicate processes, procedures, and guidelines. Thorough understanding of OH&S legislation and safe work practices. Collaborate with the Creative Production Assistants to maintain physical spaces. Passionate about supporting young people learning the digital and technical skills involved in theatre production, both informally and formally. Anaphylaxis qualification, Asthma Management qualification, and Level II First Aid Certificate are required; however, these can be obtained prior to commencing. Technical qualifications such as Elevated Work Platform (Yellow Card) License, Working at Heights, Manual Handling Training, and Rigging Certification are highly desirable. A willingness and availability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends as necessary). National Police History Check (obtained within the last 6 months).
