Place Management Officer – Inner West Council Are you passionate about enhancing local communities, fostering vibrant public spaces, and driving economic development? Join the Inner West Council as a Place Management Officer and help shape the social and economic well-being of our main streets, centres, and precincts. About the Role As a Place Management Officer, you will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver innovative and impactful place-making initiatives. You’ll play a vital role in driving creative, culturally enriching activities and supporting emerging economies in alignment with Council’s strategic objectives and Economic Development Strategy. Key Responsibilities Identify, coordinate, and deliver place-based improvements that enhance the public domain and boost local economic activity. Build robust partnerships with internal teams, local businesses, and community stakeholders. Provide specialist advice on place-making activities and support the implementation of Council’s strategies. Conduct research and evaluate initiatives to inform best practices in place management and economic development. Engage with local businesses, chambers of commerce, and community groups to support vibrant, sustainable places. Prepare and support grant applications to secure funding for projects. About You You are a proactive and community-focused professional who thrives on collaboration and creative problem-solving. With strong communication and project management skills, you can manage diverse stakeholders and deliver successful outcomes. Essential Criteria Relevant qualifications in planning, urban design, project management, business, economics, or a related field (or near completion). Experience or interest in place-making, public domain design, and project delivery. Proven ability to engage and consult with communities and businesses. Strong project management skills with experience delivering initiatives through partnerships. Excellent communication skills, including experience working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities. Proficiency in research and data analysis. Demonstrated commitment to customer service, diversity, and ethical practices. Desirable Criteria Experience in local government. Current Class C driver’s license. Why Join Inner West Council?
