What is the role? Applications are sought for suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the Band 6 Planning & Performance Senior Team Member role within Southern Command. The Planning & Performance team supports Southern Command through the delivery of planning and performance services, portfolio, program, change management and governance and assurance services, in alignment with the Command Corporate Services Unit (CCSU) service offer. You are responsible for working collaboratively with the COO Portfolio and your team to drive and support efficient, effective and compliant planning and performance services across Southern Command. As the Senior Team member, you will be expected to assume the role of second-in-charge (2IC) of the Planning and Performance team, represent the Planning and Performance team within the Command, develop and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships, and mentor and guide members of the team to upskill and increase service delivery. You are dynamic and flexible in your approach to day-to-day work, have the ability to prioritise and multi-task, engaging multiple stakeholders and corporate centres of excellence to deliver high-level outcomes to foster a positive reputation and trust in the team. The role requires adherence to regulatory framework, Codes of Conduct and AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below. What will you do? As a Planning & Performance Senior Team Member, you support the Command to manage their strategic, project and governance requirements effectively through timely and accurate advice and analysis. Your responsibilities include the following: Working collaboratively with the COO Portfolio and national teams to effectively align annual business planning with organisational and command-specific strategic direction, actively support major projects and initiatives and deliver governance and assurance services. Provision of support to the management team in regards to high-level performance monitoring, data analysis and reporting in accordance with regional and organisational priorities. Contributing to the development of New Policy Proposals (NPPs) through the preparation of the Command’s specific data estimations and actioning requests from the COO Portfolio. Overseeing the tracking of the Command’s progress in relation to New Policy Initiatives (NPI). Developing Command-specific strategies to address compliance issues and undertake compliance reporting on all Command activities. Overseeing the management of the audit schedule, includes the preparation of audit reporting and information. Overseeing of Command-specific governance instruments and ensuring they are up-to-date, relevant, and aligned with AFP best practice. Delivery of risk management activities, including the assessing the Command’s operational risks and mitigation strategies. Acting as a conduit to support any changes or support the Command may require in responding to legislative reforms. Deliver and meet the needs of all relevant business, strategic and enterprise-wide reporting requirements. Challenging existing work practices to gain efficiencies and benefits to the Command and the broader AFP. Maintaining contemporary knowledge and subject matter expertise through ongoing professional development and learning opportunities outside the formal education process to ensure you are able to effectively undertake your duties and are up to date on relevant changes to procedures and policies. Supporting the Southern Command Culture Committee by acting as a CCSU conduit, engaging with the committee in an advisory capacity as required and supporting relevant initiatives. Essential Requirements Applicants must be an Australian Citizen. A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one. Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in area of expertise. Demonstrated experience in providing effective and high-level consultancy and partnership support to senior management. High level of verbal and written communication skills and ability to represent the CCSU within the Command. Experience in business planning and development of strategic documentation. Experience in project management and demonstrated ability in running a project from conception through to delivery. Proven ability to work autonomously where required and take initiative in a fast-paced agile environment. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office. Desirable Requirements Experience in mentoring, guiding and developing members. Additional Information This role is located in Melbourne and applicants are expected to be based in Melbourne.
