Are you looking to apply your policy and engagement skills to support Australia’s national security objectives? The AFP is seeking talented and driven people to contribute to the development and implementation of policy and programs to support AFP’s Pacific Strategy. You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct, and the AFP Governance Instruments. What will you do? Your responsibilities will require you to apply your policy and engagement skills and experience, across a diverse range of activities. As a member of the Pacific Coordination team, the day-to-day activities may include, but are not limited to: Exercise sound judgement to provide strategic advice to senior executive on complex policy issues. Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes, and facilitate cooperation. Plan, prepare and deliver Ministerial and Cabinet submissions, correspondences, and briefs. Contribute to Australia’s national security priorities relating to the Pacific. Essential Requirements Demonstrated critical thinking abilities, sound judgement, and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one. You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application. (Band 6 level) Demonstrated experience guiding, mentoring, or coaching junior team members in your team in current or past roles. Desirable Requirements Band 5 Strong research and analytical skills. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work as part of a team. Display personal drive and integrity. Band 6 - requirements above as well as: Experience in policy development, implementation, and evaluation. Ability to plan and deliver on multiple complex and concurrent tasks. Additional Information This position is an AFP Band Level 5 & 6. We offer flexible working arrangements; however, positions are located in Canberra. As such, successful applicants from outside Canberra would need to move to Canberra if successful at their own expense.
