Policy & Practice Communications Officer The Law Society of NSW is currently looking for a full-time Project and Communications Officer to join our Policy and Practice team. About us The Law Society of NSW is the voice of the legal profession and represents the interests of more than 33,000 members across the state. The Policy and Practice Department researches and advises on issues relating to legal policy and law reform. The Department supports 18 policy and segment committees and has responsibility for major legal policy projects. About the role You will manage the communication and promotion of the Law Society’s policy and law reform advocacy and practice support material to members, legal stakeholders, and the community in general. What you’ll be doing Prepare content, based on the Law Society’s law reform advocacy and practice support material, for publication via various media channels. Advise on ways to enhance the communication of the Law Society’s advocacy work to members, legal stakeholders, and the community in general, including ways to measure and report on the effectiveness of the Law Society’s advocacy. Provide accurate, timely, and effective reports on progress to the Director, Policy and Practice, and to the Executive, as required. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Provide communications support to other departments as required or as directed by the Director of Policy and Practice. About you Experience in communications or public relations. An understanding of the context of providing public policy and law reform advice. Ability to effectively manage resources to meet objectives and competing deadlines in an intensive workload environment. Previous exposure to representative or membership organisations (desirable). Superior written and oral communication skills. Interpersonal skills of a high order. Strong organisational and time management skills. Ability to work and participate constructively as a team member. Ability to work with minimal supervision and to demonstrate initiative. Displays integrity and willingness to comply with the Law Society's confidentiality requirements. Ability to adapt to a changing and flexible work environment.
