This position will support the Global Science and Technology Diplomacy Fund - Strategic Element (GSTDF-SE) for the solar thermal-plasmonic seawater splitting for hydrogen production project. This role will focus on catalyst design and development on seawater vapor splitting with scale-up to TRL 3 level demonstration. The Person We are seeking an academic with expertise in materials science, theoretical simulation, photocatalysis, electrochemistry, or a closely related field. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of independent research in energy conversion or storage, evidenced by publications in esteemed peer-reviewed journals and presentations at conferences. Key to this role is a proven ability to conceptualize and lead innovative research in materials science and its applications. A strong background in theoretical computation and seawater splitting experimentation is essential, particularly for investigating catalytic mechanisms in seawater splitting for hydrogen and oxygen production. Additionally, candidates with experience in securing major funding, particularly through proposals for initiatives such as MEX-1 Beamlines, the Australian National Computational Merit Allocation Scheme (NCMAS), and the university’s Merit Allocation and Adapter Schemes will be highly regarded. The expertise in experimental methodologies—especially water-splitting device design and fabrication—will also be advantageous.
