AMTAR is funded through the Australian Research Council Industrial Transformation Research Hub scheme, with the aim to develop new technologies and establish a platform for smart-design, manufacture and quality assurance of targeted radiopharmaceuticals. In this role, you will develop, prepare, and characterise metal ion chelators as key components of targeted radiopharmaceuticals, and contribute to smaller research projects through the co-supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research students. You will be part of a research laboratory that prioritises collaboration, openness, respect and encourages innovation, and have the opportunity to work closely with AMTAR industry and academic partners to develop expertise and build a research profile. Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas. Your key responsibilities will be to: Undertake the chemical synthesis, purification, and characterisation of novel chemical encapsulating agents (chelators) as components of targeted radiopharmaceuticals. Conduct research, scholarly or professional activity, independently or as part of a team, contributing to discipline knowledge. Develop and refine independent research skills under the supervision of more senior academic staff (with an increasing degree of autonomy). Ensure quality, standards and excellence are maintained in all research activities and outputs. Contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students within AMTAR. Participate in AMTAR meetings and workshops and contribute to the broader Hub program, including outreach and translation activities, and mentoring programs. Undertake other duties and administrative tasks and contribute to projects appropriate within the classification level as required. Contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled. Interact with students, staff and other members of the University community in a professional, collegial and respectful manner. About you: Completion of a PhD (or under examination) in organic synthetic chemistry or closely related discipline. Experience in organic synthetic chemistry, compound purification, and spectroscopic authentication (NMR, LC-MS/MS). Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and conference presentations. Evidence of effective supervision of Honours students or undergraduate project students. Some experience in internal service roles and contributions towards external activities. Pre-employment checks Your employment is conditional upon the completion of all role required pre-employment or background checks in terms satisfactory to the University.
